Dr. Joyce Speed began her journey as a classroom teacher who noticed a troubling pattern: too many students saw reading as a chore rather than an adventure. That observation sparked a mission that has defined her entire career.

With over two decades of experience in classrooms, curriculum development, and educational leadership, Dr. Speed has designed resources that are both rigorously standards-aligned and deeply engaging. Her work bridges the gap between what students need academically and what they love to experience.
The Enjoyable Learning Institute was founded on the belief that literacy is the foundation of all learning — and that foundation should feel like an adventure. Through Litscape, Text Trek, and Sensational Summer, Dr. Speed brings that vision to life for thousands of students and educators across the country.
When she's not creating new resources, Dr. Speed speaks at literacy conferences, consults with school districts, and mentors aspiring educators. Her work has reached over 20,000 students and earned recognition from educational organizations nationwide.
